8 simple rules for WEIGHT LOSS
Weight loss and weddings go hand in hand. Every bride, I mean even the brides that are perfect in shape, want to shed a few kilos. We all want to look nothing less than perfect on our big day.
Wedding stress helps you lose some weight, LOL. But actual weight loss requires some hard work. I am not going to give you a detailed diet of what to eat, what exercise to do or what miracle pills to consume. All I’m going to do is give you a few tips about weight loss. I lost around 6.5 kgs in two months during my wedding, so I’m going to tell you what I did and did not do !
RULE 1 – This is the mot important rule of all !! DO NOT OBSESS OVER LOSING WEIGHT ! Weight loss is a slow process, you are not going to lose weight any faster if you obsess over it or keep checking your scale everyday. BE PATIENT ! Once you come to terms with the fact that you want to lose weight, it becomes easier for you to actually lose it. I’m not kidding ! Your body has to accept it, without that you are not going to achieve anything.
RULE 2 – WATER – This is an old rule, but an effective one ! Drinking water flushes out all the toxins from your body aiding is better digestion, The best time to drink water is in between meals and not during meals. Try to drink water half an hour before every meal.
RULE 3 – DO NOT SKIP MEALS – A lot of us think starving is a part of weight loss, well you are wrong. Starving isn’t going to help you in any way except for making you sick that is. The trick to weight loss is eating healthy and losing weight. Find a good diet plan that satisfies your hunger, a plan preferably within the 1200 calorie scale (this will help you lose weight quicker).
RULE 4 – SIMPLE EXERCISE – No, you do not have to spend hours together in the gym. All you have to do is be active. Wake up an hour earlier than you usually do and do some simple exercise.
WHAT I DID :
As soon as you wake up drink 2 glasses of water and walk for around ten minutes just to wake your body up. Once you feel active follow this video and perform these asanas everyday. When you are done with these asanas, go ahead and do sun salutation ( surya namaskaram ). Repeat the salutation at least 15 times, this is a very effective exercise for overall body toning.
If you are feeling it, you could even go for a walk in the evening for around 3o minutes. Go out and get some fresh air instead of walking on the treadmill.
Try to follow this routine at least 4 times a week.
RULE 5 – DOWNLOAD A CALORIE COUNTER APP – This is not to obsess over every calorie you eat but just to keep a track of what you are eating and just in case you go overboard on your carbs or fat for the day you can cut it down for dinner ! My favorite app is the ” MY FITNESS PAL” app, it is just too good. It keeps a track of exercise, water, diet and best part even shows the nutrition chart !
RULE 6 – EAT AT LEAST TWO HOURS BEFORE BEDTIME – Late dinners always show on the scale, so eat at least 2 hours before bed time and always keep the dinners light. Eat salads/rotis for dinner and finish with a fruit of your choice.
RULE 7 – GINGER AND LEMON TEA – Drink this twice a day. Peel the ginger and boil it with a cup and half of water till the water reduces to one cup, then add a tablespoon of honey and squeeze a little bit of lemon juice. Drink this twice a day – first thing after your exercise and an hour before dinner. This drink is known to help digestion and burn fat slowly.
RULE 8 – SAY NO TO JUICES – When you are on a diet, try to eat fruits and not drink juices. However, you can have a glass of coconut water as your mid-day snack.
Do not check your weight everyday. Check it once a week, we all can be very impatient when it comes to weight loss and we might even have the urge to check our weight everyday. But checking your weight once a week will give you better satisfaction rather than checking it everyday and feeling disappointed that you’ve lost only 100-200 grams. NEVER GIVE UP !
Simple changes in your lifestyle will go a long long way. Lite butter instead of full fat, skim milk instead of full fat milk, quinoa instead of rice, fruits instead of dessert – simple ! Start eating healthy and see how quickly your body adapts to it ! 😀
Let me know what you think,
