A CINDERELLA STORY- CINDERELLA + LAJI.
Remember Cinderella and Laji ? That adorable couple whose proposal video went viral ? Here we are coming to a full circle to their gorgeous wedding on Wedding Style Story 😀 THIS wedding was all about elegance. An adorable pre wedding shoot. A church wedding. 9 beautiful bridesmaids. A gorgeous self designed lace gown by the bride and a proposal that could set a thousand hearts fluttering. And add photos by Weva Photography and it’s best we don’t speak more, and let you savour all those lovely pictures (P.S PICTURE HEAVY POST!!)
THE LOVE STORY !!
“Laji and I met 4 years ago on Valentine’s day through a few common friends in Dubai. I realised I loved being around him the day I met him and to be very honest, I couldn’t wait to meet him again. And without even putting in much efforts, opportunities kept knocking our doors to be with each other. That was the time when BBM was a thing and like anyone with BBM would do we exchanged our pins and started chatting day and night! (quite cliché I know ). It was time for me to take off for a vacation to India and for him to go back to London and admist all the chaos and last-minute hurry, both of us forgot to give each other’s numbers and boi, it was a nightmare or what?..the thought of not talking to him for few days actually had me going crazy 😛 and may be that’s when I realised I was already in love with him!
Another couple of years of dating, the story had come too close to home and my parents were officially introduced to Laji. They were glad because they were just about as smitten by him as I was when I had first met him. Finally our parents met and decided on getting us both hitched!!
Now to the most special part of my dreamy Cinderella story..THE PROPOSAL ! YES, THE PROPOSAL!!! OMG! I can still feel my heart pumping out of my chest..It was something that I never dreamt of. In front of all our friends, in the middle of the desert, Laji went down on his knee and asked me to marry him. I just couldn’t believe it! It was cute and awesome and unexpected and before I knew it, I said yes!!! and rest as they say is history…in the making” (Watch the proposal video that broke the internet here)
THE ENGAGEMENT !!
I spotted 5o shades of pink in this engagement function – from the pretty pink in the bride to be’s outfit, to the stunning candy pinks used in the decor.
Cindy on her engagement planning “According to our tradition, it’s the bride’s side who conducts the engagement. For my family, I am the first to be married and there was a lot of excitement and enthusiasm with the planning. Each of us had engagement committees set up and from choosing the venues to the dress to the flowers to the decor to the food all was discussed and taken care of.”
Coming to her trousseau , Cindy opted for an Arabic Anarkali , which she got done from a local designer in Dubai. She decided to go for minimal jewellery and bought her earrings/bangles from Kallarackal Ladies Collection, Cochin.
Her Make up was done by Anez Anzare, and she says “I would rate him 3/5 “
The beautiful stage decoration was done by Maritus Events and Wedding Planners.
THE WEDDING !!
B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L was the first word that came to my mind when I laid my eyes on Cindy on her wedding day. She looked absolutely gorgeous in both her golden silk saree and the semi mermaid gown. This wedding definitely made me leave out a big fat sigh!
Cindy says “I wanted our wedding to be an elegant affair. For my wedding I always knew that I wanted to wear a lace gown. I love lace so I wanted a lot of lace and a not-so-long trail. After a gazillion appointments and visiting several stores I found a heart filled with disappointment and not a dress and that’s when I finally decided to design my own perfect dress !! I am someone who is simple and likes to be comfortable. I would say my style is more classic and yet modern.. All I wanted in my gown was lace and classic look.
Since our wedding was in an Orthodox church, I had to wear a saree for the ceremony and I picked up a golden silk saree from Jayalakshmi Silks,Cochin. I changed to the gown immediately after the church ceremony. Though I hardly got any time, it was all worth it. After all, how many people are as lucky as me to have two bridal outfits made ! 😛
Finding the perfect makeup and hair artist was equally difficult and once again decided to trust myself.
Laji and I researched for different stage designs, flower arrangements and finally had an idea of what we wanted. Luckily our event organisers, Red carpet events understood our concept and were able to replicate it at a very short notice. We planned the whole wedding from overseas which was very hard and almost everything last-minute.
My bridesmaid dresses were designed by one of my best friends, Chinkie Joe of Lounge De Miss Chic ,a Cochin based fashion designer. I’m glad she made things much easier for my bridal party!
Weva photography handled the photography and they did an amazing job by capturing all our special moments. Forever grateful to them! “
