Body Type And Wedding Gowns !!
It’s the one day you look and feel more beautiful than you ever have in your whole life. It’s special, it’s amazing, it’s luxurious. It’s all in one dress. So why not find the perfect dress?
Finding the perfect wedding dress for your shape is about knowing what flatters your body best.
The key to finding a gorgeous wedding gown is to choose a dress that’s made for your body shape—one that flatters every curve and plays up your best assets. There are no rules to finding your dream dress. But there are guidelines that can help you :
APPLE SHAPED : More voluptuous than most, apple shapes have full breasts, a bit of a tummy and a rounder bum and hips.
DRESS DO’S : Empire- line dress and A-line silhouettes are best for this body type. Opt for V-neck and sweetheart necklines as it draws attention upwards.
DRESS DON’TS : Avoid Mermaid/Trumpet , ball gowns and straight across strapless gowns.
PEAR SHAPED : You are a pear if you are thinner on top with more curves/fullness on the bottom half.
DRESS DO’S : Create balance for your shape by putting the attention on your upper half. Great options are princess style, one shoulder, strapless, v-neck or scoop necklines. Reduce attention your bottom half with ball gown or A-line silhouettes.
DRESS DON’TS : Avoid tiered, trumpet and mermaid style dresses which draw attention to your bottom. Sheaths are unflattering too. Completely avoid Halter/High Neck as it can create a disproportionate look.
RECTANGLE SHAPED : You are a rectangle if shoulders and hips are about the same width and you don’t have a lot of waist definition.
DRESS DO’S : Create the illusion of curves by drawing attention upwards (strapless,v-neck, one shoulder) or towards the hem (Mermaid). An empire waist will showcase the smallest part. Make sure you define your waistline. Add a beaded detail or colored sash around the natural waistline as it will create definition.
DRESS DON’TS : Avoid Halter and High Neck which will make shoulders look narrow and as a result will not flatter your waist. Sheath can be unflattering too.
HOURGLASS : You are an hourglass if your shoulders and hips are about the same width and you have a well-defined waist.
DRESS DO’S: Often seen as a body shape which can wear anything, it’s still best to pick a dress that compliments your waist, as this will show off your best asset. Take advantage of your proportioned body shape and show off your curves. While any wedding dress can do this, Sheath,Mermaid and Trumpet will especially look great on you.
DRESS DON’TS : Avoid Empire line and ball gowns as they don’t showcase your perfect waistline.
