Body type and lehengas !!
The battle is not all about choosing the right dress, but about choosing the dress that fits you right! Half the battle is won when you choose the dress that compliments your body shape.
APPLE SHAPED – This is when you have an ample bust, round shaped stomach and slimmer hips. People with an apple-shaped body tend to look round.
The key to make your bust look smaller is by avoiding high necklines. When you wear a dress that has a lower neckline it will accentuate your neck, make it look longer creating an illusion of a smaller bust. Wearing a dress that is a little floaty that skims down to the waist is also a great way to flaunt your figure.
Avoid buying lehengas that have heavy embroidery on the bust area, since heavy work will hide your body features. It is best to choose lehenga choli with flat embroidery work which will make you look thinner. Wear empire waist designs and high waist lehengas as they take the attention away from your rounded stomach.
RECTANGLE SHAPE – Women with athletic looking bodies or the ones that have slender bodies are known to be rectangle in shape. Their shoulders, hips and waist are all parallel to each other.
If you have this body type you could wear lehengas with high necks and heavy detailing to give you a fuller look. Scoop necks are also greatly recommended. You could wear lehengas that are perfectly fitted at the waist to make your body look not so parallel !
Lehengas with a lot of flares would look great on a slim bride, you could even try a fish cut if you want to fashion out your curves !
PEAR SHAPED – This is the most common shape among Indian women. Women with these body shapes are smaller on the bust with narrow shoulders and heavier on the bottom.
You have to stay away from fish cuts at all costs !!! You could opt for lehengas that are heavier on the top (blouse) with an A-line skirt, this way you could take the attention away from your broad, heavy hips to your attractive areas which are your bust and shoulders !
STRAWBERRY SHAPE – This is when you are heavier in the bust area and have a slimmer bottom. Women with this type of body tend to have shoulders that are broader than the hip.
Women with this body shape need to find a lehenga which is fitted and fully flared on the bottom, as fuller and heavy detailing will balance out the body shape in a gorgeous manner. It is further recommended that you experiment with darker colors on the bottom.
Avoid puffed sleeves and halter-necks !
HOURGLASS SHAPE – Well, this is the shape all of us want to be in !! Proportionate curves with same bust and hip size and a slim waist ! *sigh*. Women with this body type can wear all types of lehengas. Period.
Just wear want you want and be happy ! 😛 The last thing we need is women with this body type complaining !!
