I decided to take a break from all the wedding posts and talk about something that I have been wanting to share with a lot of women out there. I actually did not think I will write such a post but recently I felt the need to do it. I have been hearing a lot of stories from friends and well wishers about how “big women” are forced to lose weight for their wedding. Sadly, the girl always has to be perfect; the boy can be of any size, any complexion, ANYTHING AT ALL! Did you guys know certain communities even decide the dowry worth according to the size of the bride? YES, and I’m not even kidding. I get really frustrated when I hear such stories or how there’s constant pressure for us women to lose weight.
Being a plus size myself, I have had my dose of hearing offensive comments about my weight from friends, relatives and random aunties at weddings. I would be lying if I said it didn’t bother me. IT certainly did bother me and I have cried to myself a lot of times. I was told that I won’t find good guys if I stay this way and what not. I realized that the world is filled with negativity, its up to you to decide whether you need to sit and crib about it or ignore and move on. I used to get affected by such mean comments until recently when I decided to stand up for myself. I felt this was it and I need to be comfortable in my own body. I need to stop getting worried about what others say and be happy the way I’m. Be it my height, weight, color or whatever!
NO! I’m not saying being fat is healthy. If you are overweight and unhealthy, hit the gym or take up zumba/yoga classes. Also, remember that there’s a huge difference between being fat and being fuller and healthy. People who are big can be healthy too. Nobody is perfect and perfection is something we all try to attain. But, hey you have only one life to live. Just one! It’s YOU who should decide on how to live it and not the society who judge you or bully you!
I love fashion and everything about it excites me. I’m an ardent follower of many fashion bloggers around the world and adore a lot of them. This plus size Indian fashion blogger called Gia Kashyap from “Giasaysthat” has inspired me in so many ways. She doesn’t give a damn about people who criticize her and that’s what has inspired me the most. I feel even more inspired when I see these amazing curvy bloggers pose and rock latest trends. I really wish I could motivate a lot of women who think they are worthless because of their size, color etc. All you need to do is, accept yourself the way you are. Everything else will fall in place. That’s what life has taught me.
Moving on, I’m all about online shopping these days and I buy most of my shoes, accessories and bags online. I guess it’s because I don’t have the time and online shopping is much more convenient. While stalking Instagram for some accessories to buy for myself recently, I chanced upon this brand called MARSALA JEWELLERY. I fell in love with their collection and wanted to own them all. They have a wide and exquisite range of accessories which you can wear to your friend’s wedding functions or to even your own mehendi or cocktail. When I received my package, I knew I had to share them with you guys and introduce you to this amazing brand of jewelry.
How often does it happen that, you don a piece of accessory and suddenly experience a surge of confidence running through your veins? Not too often, I’m sure. The statement earrings from Marsala were all about that. These are your go-to earrings to compliment various outfits. I believe in minimalism when it comes to arm accessories but I was so smitten by the design of the palm cuff that I went ahead to flaunt it all at once! I wore it around my fingers to give a different look. I paired it up with my plain navy blue dress from AND to make the accessories pop !!! I decided to document this look and ultimately decided to wear it to a party recently and it was a super hit among all my girlfriends. It’s definitely a head turner and gets you all the attention. Also, I absolutely love how the accessories subtly yet effectively elevated my attire.

“Your weight doesn’t define who you are. We all need to understand that we need to lead a healthy life not a thin life. Being thin is not at all a bad thing, so is being big and fuller!! Everyone has a different body shape, listen to your body and be happy about what it tells you. No matter what size you are, make sure you feel like a queen” adds Madhuri
