My Top 6 Concealers !!
Concealers are like chameleons : They adapt to your surroundings and skin shade, and spotting a good concealer can be tricky. The wedding season is almost here and it’s a busy and tiring time which can take its toll on your skin. The best concealers even out skin tones and also cover blemishes, scars, discolouration and dark circles under the eyes. Concealers are one of the most important tools of my make-up routine and that’s something I reach out to almost everyday.
Unless you were born with flawless skin (aka you’re Beyoncè), you’ll need to use different kinds of concealer for different areas of your face, depending on how much coverage you need. I use 5-6 different types of Concealers and I have listed them below so that you get a good idea of what products to go for the next time you are at the drug store! 😀
MAC STUDIO FIX CONCEALER:
This has to be my most abused concealer among the lot. Honestly, I haven’t come across anything better than this product. Right from its texture to its coverage, everything is just what my skin needs. I’m a huge fan of Mac’s studio fix range and it really gives you good coverage. An added advantage is that this one has SPF 35.
It is light weight and you would never feel that you have a concealer on. It is super creamy and blends like a dream. I use this to cover my blemishes and even out skin tone mainly. It comes in a small pot and it’s very easy to carry it around.
MAYBELLINE INSTANT AGE REWIND ERASER DARK CIRCLES TREATMENT CONCEALER :
Woah that’s such a long name..he he . Trust me guys, this is by far the best concealer I have used for my under eyes to cover up dark circles. The consistency is so thin and light that it blends so well and sets pretty quickly. It gives a medium coverage and doesn’t look cakey if you know the right quantity.
I really like this concealer because it has a sponge on and that makes it easier to apply. It’s SUPER soft and fuzzy and it’s very padded so no matter how much pressure you apply to your face, it’s not going to feel sharp or hurt–it’s just nice and soft. It’s a bit overpriced but worth it.
If you are looking for a new concealer , you really can’t go wrong with this offering from Maybelline.
LAKME ABSOLUTE WHITE INTENSE CONCEALER :
This particular concealer stick is something that I use around my mouth. It perfectly covers the discolouration around my mouth and gives me a fine look. This one contains SPF 20.
This concealer is soft but not creamy like the Mac one. It doesn’t melt when you swipe it , but it gently glides leaving off a good color for medium coverage. For acne, it did an above-average job and gives a light to medium coverage for under eyes.
One thing I dislike about this product is that leaving it without setting them with powder can be disastrous!!
BENEFIT FAKEUP :
I got this one as a sample from Sephora and it has impressed me really well. Its something I Save for special occasions and I use it mainly under my eyes. It’s very easy to apply and the results are instantly visible.
It’s considered lightweight and it hides dark circles well enough. But whenever I need more coverage, I use this as a primer concealer and apply the Maybelline anti ageing over it. It’s a concealer stick and what I really like is the fact that I don’t really have to blend it with my fingers. The stick itself does the job for me.
Now that’s a make-up product you can benefit from 😉
KISS BEAUTY – CONTOUR AND HIGHLIGHTER PALETTE :
If you’ve been using liquid concealer in the past and wanted a no-mess, no-fuss option, this is definitely the way to go.
I got this palette as a gift from Nykaa recently and it’s a contour and highlighter palette. Honestly I use only two shades in the entire palette. One is to conceal my eyeballs and the other one for contouring. The concealer shade that I use is good and gives me full coverage. I have slightly brown eyeballs and this one helps as a good primer for my eyes. It is available online and if you are a newbie to contouring and highlighting, I Suggest you buy this product to practice 😀 It is pocket friendly.
MAKEUP ACADEMY PRO-BASE PRIME & CONCEAL :
I don’t remember how exactly I came across this product. I love this product as a great base and it does a good job at reducing any redness on your skin. In my opinion it is an amazing base product. I use it as a base to my Mac studio fix concealer whenever I have a break out. It cancels out pimple’s redness instantly.
It gives me a light to medium coverage. The texture is super creamy and blends easily too. It is not at all expensive and comes in a travel friendly packaging. Great value for money.
PRO TIPS BY YOURS TRULY :
- If you use a liquid foundation , apply your concealer after you’ve applied the foundation, so that you don’t move your concealer out of place and then, fix everything with a slight touch of compact powder.
- If you use powder foundation, apply your concealer first, because powder will help set and secure your concealer in place.
- The most flattering way to apply concealer is to draw a triangle with the base under your eye and point toward your cheek. (See Image below)
- Apply concealer on your eyelids as an eye shadow base for it to stay longer.
- Mix a bit of eye cream, highlighter and concealer on the back of your hand. Then apply the mixture under your eyes to brighten the area and hide puffiness.
- Make your lipstick pop and prevent the colour from smudging by lining the outside of your lips with a bit of concealer on a fine-tip brush.
- You could use concealers to contour and highlight your face. Use a concealer two shades darker for contouring and two shades lighter for highlighting .
