Things to ask when you book your wedding venue!
Wedding venues is very very crucial step! Picking the right venue is everything, the minute you start picturing your wedding, you will see yourself in the venue. Your wedding venue is going to be a part of all the decisions you make for the wedding. So, it is very essential to ask some questions before you fixate on the venue !
1. WHAT IS THE CAPACITY OF THE BANQUET?
We all know how Indian weddings can be, we do not have the concept of intimating the couple about plus ones. So, it is very important to make sure your venue has enough space for floating and seated crowd because you are going to have at least 30% more guests than you anticipated. Ask about the layout of the venue if you are going to set up tables – round, square, rectangle etc and how many you can fit.
2. WHAT IS BRIDE AND GROOM ACCOMMODATION ?
Some venues allow a 2 room complimentary stay for the bride, groom and their party for 24 hours. So, ask the venue about this and also about other complimentary services like breakfast, tea etc. The brides usually have some spa offers, so check that out too!
3. WHAT ARE THE CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICIES?
Yep, just in case you change your mind or your dream venue opens up in the last minute! We really don’t want that, but just in case. LOL.
4. WHAT IS THE BAR POLICY?
Im saying this because, the hotel that I got engaged in did not allow outside liquor and the prices that they quoted were off the roof!! So if you are going to have a crowd that is going to be all about partying you NEED to ask about this. Also, ask about the non-alcoholic drinks that will be served !
5. CAN THE OTHER AREAS IN THE PROPERTY USED FOR PHOTOGRAPHS ?
Some 7 star hotels do not let the wedding party to take pictures on the areas a little farther from the banquet hall itself – like the pool, the garden, the corridors by the rooms etc. So, ask them about the areas you can use and go have a look at them!
Find out if the food menu is flexible and if you can add some speciality items as per your traditions/customs.
7. VALET PARKING/PARKING CAPACITY.
If the venue has valet parking, your wedding is going to be fuss free! Guests usually get very frustrated if they have to drive a kilometre to park their vehicle and let alone having to walk in suits and high heels to the venue! BIG NO NO ! If the venue does not have valet, ask if you can arrange a driver for the purpose.
8. IN HOUSE DECORS OR OWN DECORATORS
Most of the venues do not let outside decorators work on the place, so if you have a dream decor designer in mind, make sure you ask them if you can hire your own decor guys! DO NOT COMPROMISE ON THIS !
